Pink moon to rise on the eve of Easter

This is the first full moon of the spring season.

On the night before Easter, the sky will appear a bit more "pink".

The pink moon, the first full moon of spring, will rise on Saturday.

Despite the moniker, the Moon will still appear a bright white, although it has a significant seasonal effect.

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the name comes from a variety of sources, including Native American, Colonial American, and European cultures.

"April's full moon often coincides with the early springtime bloom of a certain wildflower native to eastern North America: Phlox subulata – commonly called creeping phlox or moss phlox – also known as 'moss pink. Known," said the old Farmer's Almanac.

The moon reaches peak illumination at 2:57 pm. ET. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, stargazers in the Western Hemisphere will see the brighter moon even after sunset.

The Pink Moon, also known as the Paschal Full Moon, is used by Christians to determine Easter Sunday.
