Local Christians observe Maundy Thursday

Quincy (WGEM) - Christians from Tri-States, Nations and around the world continued Holy Week with Mauni on Thursday.

Pastor Patty Johansson leads service to the community at Vermont Street United Methodist Church. The service offered music, hymns and prayer for the parishioners.

Maundy Thursday is the day during Holy Week that celebrates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the apostles.

Johansson explained why this is such an important day.

“I think it is really important for Christians to remember all the things that Jesus went through: the arrest, the torture, the beatings, the crucifixion himself. I think it is important,” Johansson said. said.

Maundy Thursday is the beginning of a three-day period commemorating the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
