Yam Haus performed live on NBC's 'American Song Contest'

To kick off this season of "American Song Contest," the band picked up by Hudson, who currently resides in Minneapolis, Yum Haus, took the L.A. stage live.

Houston of Rhode Island was sent straight to the semifinals with their song "Held On Too Long". Three more actors have a chance to advance, but they will depend only on votes. You can vote till Wednesday morning.

Yum Haus, with band members Lars Pruitt on lead vocals, Jake Felsto on drums, Zach Beinlich on bass and Seth Blum on guitar, performed their soon-to-be hit song, "Ready to Go", on Monday night.

Four were the first of 56 acts to perform. Over the next few weeks, they would go toe-to-toe with soloists, duets, DJs and bands, each representing a different venue and presenting a new, original song.

They are not just against up-and-coming artists. They're up against Grammy winners like Michael Bolton, who made hits like "When a Man Loves a Woman" are household names.

The "American Song Contest" features live original music performances, representing all 50 states, five US territories, and the nation's capital, competing to win the country's vote for "Best Original Song".

The live competition consists of three rounds as the ACTs compete in a series of qualifying rounds, followed by the semi-finals and the final Grand Final.

The next round of the quarterfinals will go live on Monday, March 28 at 7PM.
