The $9 Product Used to Create Serena Williams’ Bob at the Critics’ Choice Awards

The 27th Annual Critics' Choice Awards for 2022 didn't disappoint in the beauty department. Many of our favorite celebrities were impressed on Sunday night, including Serena Williams, who took her new bob haircut to swing on the red carpet.

Williams, who was posing with sister Venus Williams, wore a floor-length silver gown with thin, spaghetti straps that allowed her blunt hairstyle to take center stage. Celebrity hairstylist Alexander Armand created the look for the athlete. "We collaborated on the look and decided to do something youthful, fun and different to accentuate her assets and complement the outfit," Armand told POPSUGAR. "Instead of going straight and sleek, we opted for a textured shoulder-length bob with a side part. We thought a more natural, wet-inspired look would influence the fabric and gait of the dress."

To get this "wet" look, Armand used a combination of two drugstore styling products. "I blotted hair to get rid of excess water and applied Maui Moisture Flexible Hold + Coconut Milk Curl Foam Mousse ($13) to enhance Serena's natural curl pattern and to give hair structure, volume, and moisture." To apply it to the hair, Armand twirled it from root to tip with his fingers. "I then used Maui Moisture Frizz Free + Shea Butter Elongating Gel ($9) through the hair in a scrubbing motion to create form and set curls in place. This product is a great finishing tool because it's flexible. Gives hold, so hair has movement and body."
