Saints report: Eben Ebai runs fourth in NCAA final

Two St. Scholastica skiers competed at the national meet in Utah last week.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Cameroonian sprinter Samuel Eben Abbey became the first male runner in St. Scholastic history to earn All-America honors when he finished fourth in the 60-meter dash at the Junior NCAA Division III meet on Saturday.

Eben Aby's closing ties for the second best in school history at the NCAA Championships.

After another competitor's false start and subsequent disqualification blunders, Eben Aby broke cleanly and scored 6.861 behind 6.76 from Ithaca winner Jalen Leonard-Osbourne.

The outdoor season of CSS is starting from 26th March.

Nordic skiing

Buk Bratbuck earns top-20 national spots

Scholastica senior Emil Buch Bratbuck earned a pair of top-20 finishes this week at the NCAA Skiing Championships on the 2002 Olympic Course in Midway, Utah.

Buk Bratbak placed 19th in the 10-kilometer classic on Thursday, finishing in 25:32, then finished 20th (44:41) in the 20-kilometer freestyle on Saturday. The Norwegian is the first skier in CSS history to qualify as an individual in four NCAA ski championships and the second to qualify for an individual sport championship in four consecutive years.

The only other CSS skier to post multiple top-20 finishes at the same NCAA meet was Paul Schomer (2012), a 2022 member of the U.S. Olympic biathlon team.

Victoria Diabvad ​​competed for the CSS in the women's race, placing 38th in the 5 km classic (15:44) and 36th in the 15 km freestyle (44:31).

Softball

CSS leads 2-0 to start the journey

St. Scholastica Softball brought the Hot Bats to Florida by winning the first two games of their spring break trip to Florida, 9-6 over Washington College (MD) and 12-9 over St. Norbert in Leesburg, Fla. No figures were available.

Roger Williams scored

An eight-run third inning began an avalanche of runs that buried St. Scholastica in the spring break trip opener, as Roger Williams held the Saints 16-6 in eight innings in Davenport, Fla.

CSS scored three times in the fourth and seventh innings. Luke Schimnauer and Mitchell Olsen went 2-for-4 for CSS, while Jack Harris hit home.

Grant Taival lost two 2/3 innings for eight runs on seven hits.

CSS plays Ramapo on Monday.
