Tallinn - The presidents of eight European Union (EU) member states made a joint statement late Monday in support of Ukraine's swift candidacy for the European Union.
“We, the Presidents of the EU Member States: the Republic of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Poland, the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Slovenia, strongly believe that Ukraine deserves to receive an immediate EU accession perspective. is," the statement reads.
“Therefore, we call on EU member states to strengthen the highest political support for Ukraine and enable EU institutions to take steps to grant Ukraine the status of an EU candidate country and open the process of negotiations. are," says the President.
The statement also said that the heads of state of eight countries reiterated their full solidarity with Ukraine and its people at this crucial moment.
