Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday shared a cartoon lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to bring back Indian citizens stranded in war-torn Ukraine. The minister shared a cartoon on social media platform Ku, which showed Indian students walking on PM Modi's shoulders while crossing a river while citizens of other countries pleaded for help from their respective governments.
The post has gone viral and is being shared widely on the microblogging site and the internet.
India is leading the evacuation efforts in war-torn Ukraine. At a time when countries such as China, the US and the UK have either called off the evacuation process or asked their citizens to leave Ukraine, the government is on its toes with large-scale evacuations.
The Ministry of External Affairs said on Wednesday that 17,000 Indians have so far been evacuated from the war-torn country. A total of 19 evacuation flights will be conducted today to bring back 3,726 Indians. These flights will operate from neighboring countries, where Indians are being taken due to the closure of Ukrainian airspace.
