It's been more than a decade since Will Smith's 2007 hit I Am Legend dropped at the global box office. Warner Bros. is finally betting on the property with a new sequel in development.
Per Deadline, Smith is returning as star and producer for the next chapter. He will be joined on screen by Black Panther's Michael B. Jordan, who will also produce.
Oscar winner and producer Akiva Goldsman, who adapted Richard Matheson's 1954 novel, is also returning to write the follow-up. Plot details remain under lock and key at this time.
In the 2007 film Smith's Dr. Robert Neville "roams alone through New York City, calling for other potential survivors, and working on finding a cure for the plague using his own immune blood. Neville knows that His numbers are enormous, and the odds are against him, and all the while, the infected wait for him to make a mistake that will hand Neville into their hands."
