Howard slotted in women’s First Four, Jackson State tabbed 14-seed vs. LSU

The SWAC and MEAC women's champions learn their NCAA fate.

Jackson State and Howard, the SWAC and MEAC champions, learned where they would play in the first field of 68s in the Women's College NCAA Tournament.

Jackson State was selected as the No. 14 seed and will play the No. 3 LSU in the Spokane Region first round on Saturday.

This is the second NCAA tournament for the Tigers. They are riding a 21-game winning streak and have won regular-season and conference tournament championships.

Jackson State lost last year in the first round of 101–55 to the Baylor team that advanced to the Elite Eight.

For the first time in 21 years, MEAC winner Howard will face the word Avatar in the first four at 7 p.m. ESPNU on Wednesday. The winner will take on No. 1 overall seed South Carolina in the Greensboro area on Friday.
