Former NFL player Greg Hardy got pummelled in another humbling first-round knockout loss at UFC 272

Former NFL player Greg Hardy suffered a knockout defeat in the first round at UFC 272.

The American heavyweight told a media event that Insider told earlier this week that he wants to crossover in boxing and fight power punchers like Deontay Wilder and Jarrell Miller.

But whatever value he may have in his fighting-playing career, it appears on a fight-by-fight basis, as he continues to bat inside the octagon.

On Saturday, in a main card bout against Sergei Spivak that took place inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Hardy split. Hardy attempted powerful punches, but his wild attempts to link the huge target in front of him fizzled out, and hit nothing but the air.

Conversely, Spivak scuffles Hardy and sends him to the floor with a hip-toss.

Although Hardy managed to free himself and return to his feet, he was out of control, and Spivak sent him back to the ground, where he shot Hardy after being shot.

Spyvac was successful with three of its four takedown attempts, and landed 17 of its 30 attacks for a connection rate of 57%.

An apparent perfectionist, Spivak said after his win that there are things he could improve on, and things he could "work on more."

Spivack said that Hardy has "fantastic strikes, but his wrestling" isn't great. "He has the explosion, the power, but he doesn't have good wrestling."

The defeat saw Hardy fall for seven wins (six knockouts and one decision) against five losses. He has lost three in a row, all by knockout, including two consecutive beatdowns in the opening round.

Meanwhile, Spivack extended his Pro MMA record to 14 wins (six knockouts, six submissions and two decisions) against three losses.
