‘Fall in line!’ – Peter Crouch urges Mohamed Salah to accept Liverpool contract offer that doesn’t break wage structure

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch believes Mohamed Salah should 'fall in line' and agree a new contract with Liverpool that works within his current salary structure.

Salah's current deal at Anfield expires in the summer of 2023, with Liverpool desperate to tie him up with a new long-term contract.

However, recent reports have claimed that Liverpool's latest offer was rejected after talks between the club and the forward's representatives in December.

Crouch is eager to agree a new deal with the Egypt international for his former side, but warns that a bigger offer could rock the boat at Merseyside and upset the club's other influential players Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker. Can do.

'If you give him what he wants, Van Dijk is almost as important, Alison, where does it end?' Crouch told BT Sport. 'Then it becomes a problem.

'We all want to keep him and give him what he wants but that has to be consistent with what he's willing to pay.

'Make him the highest paid player, but not above the structure that you have. Liverpool as a football club will always be bigger than anyone.

'A lot of times they've sold a player and we thought it was unthinkable and they've always been fine. [Luis] Suarez, [Fernando] Torres was one of them.

Another former raid in Steve McManaman has also urged the club to persevere.

'This talk is about giving him [advice] what he wants. I understand it, but there has to be a point where Liverpool say this is what we can pay, this is our maximum.

'I don't think Liverpool will change their structure. You can't compare his situation with [Kilian] Mbappe. It won't work, Virgil will want it, Alison will want it, Jordan Henderson will want it.

'There has to be a point where Liverpool decides or Mo decides.'
