Hot flashes are not caused by underlying diseases. So, if you're experiencing them, this is what you'll feel:

*feeling of concern

Hot flashes come on suddenly and may feel like a burst of anxiety. It mostly occurs at night while sleeping and that is why it is also called as Night Sweat. This can wake you up and make it difficult to go back to sleep. However, they can also occur during the day.

Most women don't want treatment because they believe it's normal and it's going to happen whether you're having treatment or not. But it is not true! There are ways to manage hot flashes.

Is it Possible to Manage Hot Flashes During Menopause?

Healthshots talks to Vidhi Chawla, dietitian and owner of Physico Diet Clinic, about her suggestions for healthy drinks to manage hot flashes.

She said, "You can find relief from hot flashes just by making changes to your diet. Here are some carefully crafted simple drinks that you can make at home with readily available ingredients."

Drink These 3 Drinks to Manage Hot Flashes During Menopause

Vidhi Chawla recommends these beverages to control hot flashes:

1. Water

Make a new best friend during menopause, water! Water not only helps in homeostasis but also protects your muscles from cramps. It also helps with inflammation and maintains hormone levels. This in turn also helps with mood swings. Hot flashes are completely affected by the hydration status of the body, especially if you are someone who sweats a lot. While drinking water may seem as a tedious task, it can be consumed with a few drops of citrus juice in it. Sugar has to be avoided at any cost.

2. Tea

There is a misconception among people going through menopause that certain teas can help with joint pain and cramps. It does but the temperature at which the tea is consumed matters. Drinking hot tea doesn't seem to help hot flashes. Therefore, switching to iced- tea can be a savior! Again the thing to keep in mind is to limit sugar intake and replace it with natural sweeteners like honey or jaggery.

3. Cooler

There is a growing common trend among people coping with menopause to rely on alcohol, which unfortunately exacerbates the whole problem. Hence making a healthy cooler with honey and jaggery helps. For example, you can make a healthier version of a pia colada by mixing pineapple, frozen banana and coconut milk in a smoothie and eat it! Similarly, making mint coolers and other fruity coolers can also help in maintaining coolness.
