Ashneer Grover on Tuesday resigned from BharatPe, days after his wife Madhuri Jain Grover was sacked from his position in the company.
Ashneer Grover, managing director of fintech firm BharatPe, on Tuesday resigned from his position from the company and the board. This happened a few days later when Ashneer's wife Madhuri Jain Grover, who was the controlling head of the company, was removed from her position. Now, in a new interview, Ashneer has revealed the reason behind his resignation and why his wife Madhuri was fired from the company.
Ashneer had landed in controversy last year after allegations of fraud and using abusive language against employees of Kotak Mahindra Bank, which he has consistently denied. Earlier, Ashneer had filed a petition in the Singapore International Arbitration Center saying that the company's investigation against him was illegal. His petition was rejected.
On Tuesday, hours after his resignation, Ashneer spoke to Money Control and said he had learned his lesson and would never be a "slave to their investors" and own a company with 100%. He said, "I will be very frank, I will be a private person. Not here to live my life according to the media, not going to be a slave to these investors again in my life. I will live life on my own terms. Now I am like this." Looking to the people Turakhia (Bhavin) and Kamath (Nitin) who have the courage to build a business with 100% ownership. It will take a little longer to build, I will have control over what I create and these people It will not be made for those who are opportunists."
When asked if she feels that injustice has been done to her and her family as Madhuri was fired from the company. He said, "Not just injustice, it's male dominance at best. In the termination letter they mentioned laser treatment. I can tell you at what level they are lying. My wife had a skin condition." He was undergoing treatment from a doctor and that bill is a private bill. He had paid for it. Was lying in the drawer itself. He picked it up and said you claimed this bill from the company. Hell with all of them In. "
In a letter to the BharatPe board announcing his resignation, Ashneer wrote, "From being renowned as the face of Indian entrepreneurship, he is now wasting his time fighting a long, lonely battle against his investors and management. Unfortunately, in this fight, the management has lost what is really at stake - Bharatpe."
