Amari Cooper should be avoided by Houston Texans for one big reason

Adam Schefter reported Friday morning that the Dallas Cowboys are most likely to release star wide receiver, Amari Cooper. Dallas sent a first-round pick to the then Oakland (Las Vegas) Raiders. That pick was Jonathan Abrams, so the Cowboys definitely won that trade.

With such a large amount of guaranteed money due Cooper on March 20, it is reported that Dallas will attempt to trade Cooper before this happens. Cooper has nearly 4,000 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns in his four years with the Cowboys.

Those 27 touchdowns are also his age. At 27, Cooper has many prime years left. This is all very impressive. However, Texans should stay away for a bigger reason.

Amari Cooper Is Too Expensive for Houston Texans

The Texans already have a substantial cap problem with Deshan Watson's contract on the roster. Depending on whether they want to expand to Brandin Cook, they may have even more cap issues to work with.

Cook with a year left on his own deal and Cooper's history of being a workhorse wide receiver, it wouldn't be a good mix. Only Cook knows how he would feel if he weren't a true WR1. Cooper needs to go to a place that's willing to pay him money and have him be that guy.

Houston is going through a rebuild, and getting players who will make an impact and help improve the team is critical. Cooper's chances of coming four hours south and playing for one of the worst teams in the league pale in comparison to his chances of going to a contender.

It's not without notice that Cooper has been one of the best in the league for the past few years, but Houston isn't where Cooper is headed.
