Good start but Celtic can improve: Ange

Ange Postekoglu is happy with the first half of his Celtic career but believes there is still room for improvement in the team.

The former Australia manager took over hoops over the summer and impressed the Glasgow club with his high-paced playing style, which thrilled supporters for the most part of his short stint.

The League Cup was brought back to Parkhead with a 2–1 win over Hibernian in the Hampden Park final in December and Celtic went into the rescheduled winter break six points behind Premiership leaders Rangers and the Scottish Cup still up for grabs.

The title race is set to heat up when Celtic resume their league campaign on Monday night with a home game against Hibbs and, reflecting on the first half of the season, Postecoglu said: "Six months, If nothing else, progress has been shown for us.

"Are we where we want to be? No. I definitely want us to be stronger than what we are at the moment.

"But we have progressed from where we started and where we ended - but I want more.

"I want us to be better, stronger and fairer, that would be my answer, even if we're not flying.

"The idea is that we want to continuously improve the way we play and the way we develop our players, our results, everything.

“But it has been an entertaining six months for everyone. There are a lot of stories and hopefully we will continue our progress going forward.

"The most important thing is that we reaffirm the support that I and the team have received over the first six months.

"A big part of my first six months are the supporters who have got right behind the team which is the most important thing to me."
