LONDON (Reuters) - British singer and songwriter Elton John has said he has COVID-19 and has been forced to postpone some US concerts, although his symptoms were mild and he was forced to resume his farewell tour over the weekend. Was expected to be able to start with.
The singer, who has hit hits like "Rocket Man" and "Tiny Dancer," resumed her "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour last week, returning to the stage in New Orleans after a nearly two-year hiatus.
John said he would reschedule the postponed show in Dallas this week but was hoping to recover in time for concerts in Arkansas this weekend.
"I'm sorry for anyone this has caused inconvenience, but I want to keep myself and my team safe," he said in an Instagram story. "Luckily, I've been fully vaccinated and boosted and my symptoms are mild."
John's global tour began in September 2018, marking his retirement from performing on the road. Like other musicians, he was forced to stop live shows due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In September he announced that he was pushing back the European dates of the tour to a later in 2021 due to hip problems.
John, who has enjoyed a music career spanning more than 50 years, is scheduled to perform across North America by April. Their tour will take them back to Europe and North America before playing in Australia and New Zealand next year.
He is scheduled to end the tour of Europe in 2023.
