(January 11, 2022 / JNS) An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 on the Richter scale struck Cyprus on Tuesday morning, and was felt across Israel, according to Israel Police.
Dozens of calls have been received from concerned citizens across the country, from Beersheva in the south to Nahariya in the north, police said. No injury or damage was reported.
"The earthquake shook the bed for about a minute," a Jerusalem resident told Israel's Channel 12 News. Another Jerusalem resident told the Hebrew website Ynet that "our building shook."
The Paris-based European-Mediterranean Earthquake Center (EMSC) tweeted shortly after the event, providing a map of the quake's impact.
"We are working tirelessly to break the 'glass ceiling' and increase the number of Israelis in the United Nations," Erden said.
“I am sure that his talent and ability will stand out against other candidates and represent the beautiful face of Israel against the ongoing efforts to legitimize it,” he said.
