Manchester United find themselves in trouble. The results are not going according to them, the performances are boring, monotonous and screamingly lacking in harmony. The managerial position is a dire one and now there have been reports of a rift between their two biggest superstars.
Indeed, media outlets in England have claimed that talisman Cristiano Ronaldo and compatriot Bruno Fernandes have been involved in some of the commotion behind the scenes. The pair haven’t clicked on the field since returning to Old Trafford last summer and it seems things are not going well between them off the pitch as well.
With the direction the club is headed, Fernandes is now assessing his future at Old Trafford, reports El National. It further adds that the Portuguese playwright’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is already looking for a new club for his client, and has introduced him to Barcelona.
Fernandes has been their best player since joining Manchester United in January 2020. In 104 appearances for the Red Devils, the 27-year-old has produced a very impressive number of 45 goals and 34 assists.
However, he has hit a rough patch this season, with changes to the system under Ralph Rangnick, further diminishing his importance and influence within the team. The whole situation has now left him contemplating an exit, and Barcelona could end up being the beneficiaries.
Joan Laporta is looking to sign a marquee in the summer and has Erling Haaland in her sights. However, given the difficulties involved in the Norwegian landing, Barca president may consider Fernandes as an alternative.
