Brooks of Kentucky will enter the NBA Draft but defend its qualifications

To avoid re-entry into the NBA draft, Kentucky forward Keon Brooks Jr. will not hire an agency.

Brooks averaged 10.8 points per game on 49% shooting as a junior. In the Big 12/SEC Challenge in January, he had 27 points and eight rebounds against Kansas. The deadline for returning to school is June 1.

In a statement, the 6-foot-7 Fort Wayne, Indiana, native said he is excited to join the draft and pursue his career goal while remaining eligible.

Coach John Calipari said Brooks is following the rules and improving each season.

"His thoughtfulness and maturity, not only as a player, but as a person, will allow him to go through this process and make the best decisions for his future," said Calipari. "He and his family know that I have their full support in whatever decision they make."
