WAC quarterfinal matchup set for Lumberjacks

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) -- The SFA men's basketball team is gearing up for the Western Athletic Conference quarterfinals.

Jack will take on Abilene Christian on Thursday night at 10:30 in Las Vegas. CT. The Wildcats beat the Utah Valley 82-74 to overcome a 4-point deficit in the half. The SFA is 22-8 on the year and 14-4 in conference games. The team entering the competition is on track to win 10 games. SFA has defeated ACU twice this season, 64-58 and 73-71.

"This is where your team has to shine and play better," said head coach Kyle Keller. “We have to do better in some areas. We have to cut our turnover. We have to do free throws. All the little things that make a team great."

This will be the first post-season game for 'Jack Sign 2018'. Senior guard Gavin Kensmill is the only player on the team with post-season experience playing for Iona in the NCAA Tournament as a freshman.

"When you talk about the skeptics it's something I've carried with me through the new year," Kensmill said. "I wanted to prove that I could be an important part of a really good team and try to make it back to the NCAA Tournament. I played my freshman year but didn't play much so I don't really take credit for it." I'm just happy and excited I'm finally in a position where I can be an important part of this team and I'm excited to see where we can go.
