Ralf Rangnick: Inspiring Marcus Rashford turnaround has ‘all my energy’ after Man United star’s struggles

Marcus Rashford has been backed by Manchester United boss Ralph Rangnik to rediscover his form.

The German coach believes he can inspire the striker's turnaround, having brought the likes of Anthony Elanga to the fore ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby.

Edinson Cavani's return from injury could mean a stay on the bench at Rashford Etihad Stadium. The England international has made just nine Premier League appearances in the entire season, scoring four goals.

But Rangnik, whose side face Manchester City after a series of draws, is confident Rashford could be a key player in the final weeks of the season.

"With Edinson at least available for the Games and the upcoming Games, we have other options," he told reporters.

“Along with Marcus Rashford, we have another player that I will insist on and will be constantly behind and with him to develop him.

“We have achieved this with some other young players in the past and I don't see why this should not happen with Marcus.

"He's got a lot of talent, he's got the pace, he's got the physicality, he's got everything you need for a modern striker, whether he's playing from the wing or center.

"I will put all my energy into that, to help lead him down the same path that the other players have done in the last three months."
