The blues face an uncertain future after the Russian billionaire oligarch is banned from doing business in Britain.
But Prem chiefs confirmed today that Chelsea have been given an 'initial license' to meet sporting obligations for the rest of the season.
And tonight's league match will be against Norwich.
The Premier League statement read: "Following the UK government's announcement that sanctions have been placed against Roman Abramovich, the Premier League can confirm tonight's match between Norwich City FC and Chelsea FC goes ahead as planned.
"The Government has issued an initial license to enable Chelsea FC to continue training, play their fixtures and meet their obligations for the rest of the season.
"The league will now work with the club and the government to ensure that the season proceeds as planned and as intended by the government."
Prem's statement came as Chelsea fired their own release.
It said: "By virtue of its 100 percent ownership of Chelsea FC plc and affiliated entities, Chelsea FC will normally be subject to the same sanctions regime as Mr Abramovich.
"However, the UK Government has issued a general license which allows Chelsea FC to continue certain activities.
"We will be completing our men's and women's team fixtures against Norwich and West Ham respectively, and intend to engage in discussions with the UK government regarding the scope of the licence.
"This would include seeking permission to amend the license to allow the club to operate as normally as possible.
“We will also seek guidance from the UK Government on the impact of these measures on the Chelsea Foundation and its important work in our communities.
"The club will make further updates when it deems fit to do so."
The transfer of sanctions against Abramovich will have huge ramifications for Chelsea in the market, with the club unable to shop for reinforcements this summer.
Chelsea have been linked with a number of high-profile signings including Sevilla's Jules Kaunde, Borussia Dortmund star striker Erling Haaland and West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
This is made worse by the fact that they are set to lose defenders Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta on free transfers, with the Blues unable to hand contracts to current stars.
All three foreign sides could have pre-contract agreements, with Christensen and Azpilicueta already on the verge of joining Barcelona.
But Rudiger's interest is close to home, with both Manchester United and Newcastle eager to snatch him
The sale of goods has also been banned.
The club is not allowed to sell further match tickets, only season ticket holders will be able to participate in games where they can buy food and drink.
