Indian journalist Boria Majumdar says he will serve Wriddhiman Saha with defamation notice

India wicketkeeper recently claimed that he was threatened by a reporter for not responding to an interview request

Indian journalist Boria Majumdar has said that he will serve a legal notice for defamation on Wriddhiman Saha in relation to the recent allegations made by the India wicketkeeper. Majumdar said in a video posted on social media that the WhatsApp chat that Saha had put up was a distorted version of the exchange between the two. Saha did not name the journalist who had allegedly threatened him, but said on Saturday that he has conveyed the details of the incident to the BCCI.

Saha said, "I have told the committee everything that I know. I have shared all the details with them. I can't tell you much right now. The BCCI asked me not to talk about the meeting outside." Said because they will answer all your questions." told reporters after appearing before Board's Vice-Chairman Rajeev Shukla, Treasurer Arun Dhumal and IPL Governing Council member Prabhatej Bhatia.

In February, Saha, who was dropped from the Indian squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka, took to Twitter to publish a screenshot of messages that a "respected" journalist had sent him on WhatsApp. In the screenshot in question, the sender had requested Saha to "do an interview with me", to which Saha did not respond. The messages eventually took on a more aggressive tone: "You didn't call. Never again will I interview you. I don't take insults. And I'll remember it. It wasn't something you should have done."

With Rishabh Pant establishing himself as India's first-choice wicketkeeper, and Sreekar Bharat rising through the ranks to become his new deputy, Saha, who has played 40 Tests, was told by head coach Rahul Dravid that the team was more than him. He will move forward and he can take any decision on his career. The 37-year-old felt he was being "indirectly asked to retire." Shortly thereafter, he was demoted from Group B (INR 3 Crore salary) to Group C (INR 1 Crore) of the BCCI Central Contract List.
