A free throw contest during halftime of Saturday's Duke-UNC matchup gave Grayson Allen a chance to be the hero once again inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Former Blue Devil and current Bucks guard great coach Mike Krzyzewski returned to his alma mater as one of 96 former players for his last game.
Allen, the only active NBA player in attendance, had the pleasure of stepping into the charity Stripe with the opportunity to present a $1,000 gift with a free throw to Duke Children's Hospital.
Former All-ACC talent will make the most of this opportunity.
A standout under coach Kay for four seasons (2014–18), Allen gave the Cameron Crazies something to cheer about with the Blue Devils' 41–39 first-half lead over the Tar Heels.
Allen's feel-good moment conjured up memories of a similar scene in January, in which Duke's all-time leading scorer, J.J. Radic. The sharpshooting 15-year-old vet, who was also in attendance on Saturday, surprisingly missed his charity FT effort at halftime in Duke's 76-74 loss to Miami.
Allen ended a busy 24 hours on his way to his emotional homecoming, scoring seven points in Milwaukee's 118-112 win over the Bulls on Friday night. His trip will take him back to Wisconsin for a game against the Suns tomorrow.
