The NFL offseason kicks into high gear this week, with Tuesday serving as the deadline for NFL teams to impose transition tags on players facing either franchise or free agency.
Monday began with one of the first big pieces of free agency news, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, as the Kansas City Chiefs are going to use the franchise tag to tackle Orlando Brown Jr.
Brown, a three-time pro bowler, was part of a massive overhaul Kansas City carried out on its offensive line last off-season. Was acquired 25 years in business with the Baltimore Ravens.
The left tackle allowed four sacks last season but remains a stalwart on position and a factor in pass safety and when Kansas City keeps the football on the ground.
If Brown signs under the franchise tag, he will earn an estimated salary of $16.5 million for 2022. The team could also close Brown on a long-term deal.
Other players to watch before 4 p.m. on Tuesdays. The ET franchise tag deadline includes Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin, Green Bay Packers wide receiver DeVante Adams, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams, Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz and Tennessee Titans pass rusher Harold Landry III.
