Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai continues with its golden run at the box-office as the film raked in around Rs 9.25 crore on Tuesday and garnered a total of Rs 54.50 crore in five days. The film has done a phenomenal business in Maharashtra, especially in the Mumbai circuit and this is the belt that will take the film to the Rs 100 crore mark in the long run.
While there was a slight increase in the figures for Monday and Tuesday due to the holiday of Maha Shivratri, the real examination started from Wednesday. A figure in the range of Rs 4.5 crores would mean that through the film it will cross the Rs 64 crore total in the opening week. This will also clear the way for the film to enter the three-figure club. The trend of the first five days has ensured success for this Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial and it is the journey from here that will decide whether it can even garner the hit tag.
The film is made on a budget of Rs 175 crore, of which Rs 115 crore has been recovered from the sale of satellite, digital and music rights. This has left manufacturers and distributors to recover around Rs 60 to 62 crores through theatrical medium, which will earn Rs 160 crores worldwide with an India net of at least Rs 85 crores. Gangubai has emerged as the tenth successful film for Alia Bhatt with an unbelievable strike rate of 77 per cent.
