The Seattle Seahawks need to fix their offensive line. The three presumptive starters going into the 2021 season are free agents this season - left tackle Duane Brown, center Ethan Posik and right tackle Brandon Schell. Brown was very good in 2021 but only in the second half of the season. The same can be said for POSIC. Shell just hurt too much.
Overall, however, Seattle's offensive line was once again overwhelmed this past season and by the time they figured out how to jail and be good, the season was lost. Not only that, but unfinished rookie free agent Jake Curhan was starting with the right tackle and was a much better run blocker than Shell was when Shell was healthy.
The center, however, has been an issue in Seattle ever since the Seahawks traded Max Unger to the New Orleans Saints for Jimmy Graham in 2015. Justin Britt started at center in 2016 and wasn't terrible, but he digested Seattle over the next three years and decided to move on.
Seattle Seahawks need to find a long-term answer at center start this season
Posik has tried to start at the center over the years, but he can't seem to be consistent and is inconsistent when he plays. Poxik needs to change. Seattle needs to stop finding a stopgap in the center and find a long-term replacement.
Doing so would make Russell Wilson happy because he would get less. This will also allow the crime to run smoothly. The center typically calls offensive line alignment once on the line of scrimmage. So a great center isn't just big and strong, it's usually quite smart too.
So what should Seattle do to address its continuing problem at the center? Maybe adding one of the three players who follow is the answer.
