Santiago, Chile - Spain's Pedro MartÃnez won the Chile Open clay-court tournament with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Argentina's Sebastian Baez. It was Martinez's first professional title.
Martinez lost the Kitzbühel Open last year in another clay-court tournament in Austria.
Baez was also trying to win his first Pro title.
MartÃnez's path to the title included victories against his countryman Jaime Munar, Germany's Yannick Hanfmann and Chile's Alejandro Tabilo.
"I've competed, competed, and in the end I made it," Martinez said. "It's a new step in my career. And I'm ready for whatever comes next."
Baij said he was happy with the week despite the loss in the final.
"At critical moments, Pedro was better than me today," he said. "Maybe he was more focused. I'll work on that and come back better next year."
