Rainbow Warriors come from behind to beat CSU Bakersfield on senior night

Bernardo da Silva scored 10 of his game-high 14 points in the second half and led Hawaii to a 62-50 comeback win over Cal State Bakersfield at the Simplifi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center tonight.

Rainbow went 9-4 in the Big West and 15-9 on aggregate with two road games the following week before the conference tournament the following week in Las Vegas.

The CSUB fell to 2-11 in the conference and 7-16 overall.

On senior night, UH celebrated what was the final career home game for Mate Colina, Jerome Desrosiers and Junior Madut. Colina and Madut may play another year but are graduating and have said they will turn pro. Desrosiers, a graduate transfer, is awaiting a decision on a possible additional season of eligibility.

Jovon McClanahan added 11 points for Hawaii and Madat scored 10 points. McClanahan and Madut won the final 1:05 by making four of four free throws.

Desrosiers, who scored nine points, took UH to a 6–2 lead with two 3-point plays - first, one of the long-shot variety and then the traditional and -1 as he went to the bottom of the basket. The shot was hit with a foul. ,

Roadrunner took a 25-20 lead after 13-3 runs. Rainbow made it 30-28 at halftime.

UH took a 41-40 lead with 11:26 on the basket by da Silva.

Sean Stith led the CSUB with 12 points.
