Marvel lets loose with a trippy hellscape of a trailer.
"The Nightmare Begins." Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness got a new trailer during the Super Bowl on Sunday, giving us more clues about the 28th Marvel Cinematic Universe film ahead of its May 6 release. It will see Benedict Cumberbatch the Wizard and his new friends traveling through the multiverse, preparing us for a cameo.
Watch the new trailer below.
For those cameos, a familiar voice comes in at 1:18, belonging to a certain Charles Xavier from the X-Men movies—the older version played by Patrick Stewart. Monica Rambeau, daughter of Captain Marvel's late Maria Rambeau, is also along for the ride, with her powers looking more developed in her battle with the Scarlet Witch.
The parallel-dimension-hopping story follows the events of Loki and the reality-warfare of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the latter of whom Strange messes with the fabric of the universe to help Peter Parker. Strange seeks help from Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), aka The Scarlet Witch, who has been living in isolation since WandaVision messes with the mind of an entire town. However, in this trailer, Wanda looks like she might play a villain.
The adventure will also feature America Chavez (Xochital Gomez), whose comics counterpart has the power to open holes in reality and jump through the multiverse.
The previous trailer featured former Strange collaborator Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Twisted Strange Supreme, who last year's What If...? and also featured Strange's ex-girlfriend, Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams).
