A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Taiwan on Monday.
The US Geological Survey said the epicenter of the quake was located about 40 miles east of the city of Huilien, at a depth of about 18 miles.
Regardless of the strength of the quake, the USGS said there was a 65% chance that the tremor caused only minimal economic damage or injury.
The quake reached a magnitude of 4 in Yilan County, Taipei City and New Taipei City, officials at the Central Weather Bureau said on a scale of 1 to 7, which measures the magnitude of the quake in Taiwan.
Intensity levels were low in Hualian County, Taichung City, Hsinchu County, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City and Changhua County, a 3.
Video posted online by China's state-run Global Times shows an office building in Taipei swinging wildly for more than 30 seconds after the quake.
