Snowdrop Actress Kim Mi-soo Dead at 29: She 'Suddenly Left Us,' Says Agency

Korean actor Kim Mi-soo, who recently had a supporting role in the series "Snowdrop", has passed away. She was 29 years old.

"Kim suddenly left us on January 5," her agency Landscape said in a statement on Wednesday. “The bereaved are deep in their grief over the sudden sadness. Please refrain from reporting false rumors or speculations so that the family can mourn in peace."

The agency's statement was translated by Jungang Daily and gave no cause of death.

In "Snowdrop", Kim - also written Kim Misu - plays a student activist who shares a women's hostel with Young-ro, the protagonist portrayed by Jisoo of the K-pop group Blackpink.

"Snowdrop" was produced by JTBC Studios and Drama House and runs on JTBC's network in Korea. In the rest of the world, it is presented as a Disney+ original.

Local media referred to Kim in two of her 2019 films, "Yaadein" and "Kyungmi Ki Duniya," and JTBC's drama series "Human Luwak," "Hi Bye, Mama!" Including shown with credits. From TVN and "Into the Ring" (2020) on KBS.

Kim was born on 16 March 1992. But Korean media put his age as 30 and 31 due to different calculation methods.

"Snowdrop" is a romantic melodrama set in the backdrop of the pro-democracy movement of 1987. The series has sparked fierce controversy over its historical accuracy, choice of songs, and depiction of North Koreans.

It was reported that the sponsors withdrew their support and a petition was launched for the President of South Korea, which reportedly collected more than 300,000 signatures. Flap initially had a negative impact on the shares of Jay Contentry and Blackpink agency YG Entertainment.
