East Rutherford, NJ - New York Giants starting center Billy Price has taken time off the team and is likely to miss Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears after sharing on social media that his wife, Taylor, was diagnosed with a pregnancy 15 weeks later. suffered a miscarriage. ,
Price has been away from the team this week while dealing with a personal matter. He addressed the loss of his child in an Instagram post on Thursday night.
Price wrote, "It is with the most broken hearts that we have to share the news of our baby boy receiving angel wings and being with God in heaven. We are saddened that this is our new reality and we Can't wrap my head around it." ,
"I pray that no one has to bear this pain and I pray for all those who have already gone through it or are going through it now. This is the hardest and most painful experience ever We are so grateful we spent 15 weeks with our baby boy, the excitement our boy gave us and the love and joy we have seen him grow and my wife's body change.
"Thank you from the bottom of our broken hearts to our family, friends, community and veteran organization for being so friendly. We love and appreciate you all. Please help us heal and focus on each other." Give some time and space for that."
The couple were expecting their first child in June. Price, 27, posted earlier this month about the excitement of becoming a father for the first time.
The Giants have been supportive of Price and his wife, Taylor.
Coach Joe Judge said, "We fully support Billy, fully support Billy as an organization, see him and his wife as just individuals and their families and what they are doing right now." Huh." "We left the door open in a lot of ways in terms of what Billy needed from us. When I talked to him earlier in the week, I told him, 'Hey, listen, if you want to come in here and put this one Let there be distraction, if you want to stick to the game plan, if you want to come out and practice and blow off some steam and hit the weight room, whatever you have to do.
"He's doing something that so many of us have been blessed with that we haven't had to deal with. He's doing something personally that we have to make sure we eat and that as an individual, an organization I can't completely rule out [Sunday] at the moment, but he's not practicing with us. He hasn't been to meetings in person. Zoom [is] available to him But we have to give him and his wife the time they need and are fully supporting him in whatever he is doing."
The Giants on Friday called Price suspicious for Sunday's game in Chicago.
The Giants received value this summer from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for defensive lineman BJ Hill and a conditional 2022 seventh-round pick. He was selected in the first round from Ohio State in 2018.
Price has started 14 games this season for the Giants. He took center stage in Week 2, and has been one of their most reliable linemen ever since.
The veteran is Pro Football Focus' 21st ranked center with a 63.4 grade.
If Price doesn't play Chicago, the Giants are expected to slide right guard Matt Skura or Wes Martin into the center. Skura was a starter at center for most of three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens from 2018 to '20.
