An exhibition fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul appears on the air after the heavyweight legend shot down reports that they had agreed to a $50 million exhibition bout.
Reports emerged on Monday that details were being rolled out at the camps, with Las Vegas to contest a whopping £36m in terms of pay-per-view and ticketing capacity.
However, Tyson has now dismissed these claims, responding to the news on Twitter: "This is new to me. I saw Jake in St. Barths and he never mentioned it."
So whether the fight will one day progress remains to be seen, but if it does, the former undisputed heavyweight champion may have to make a U-turn on his once-made promise.
Last October, "The Baddest Man on the Planet" said he had no doubts he could easily single out the YouTuber, but said he wouldn't because his family is a huge fan.
"My family loves Jake Paul," admitted Tyson.
"So f***ing easy [to knock her out]. Yeah, but I never would. I would have been against my f***** family. They love this little white mother**** *.You know what I mean?
"He's got balls. He's got f****** balls. When you see a white guy with balls, you know. I'm talking about real, but f*** you Mother*****.. yes but no man, let him rule his f******.
And it appears that there is respect between the pair as well, with Paul still in the early days of his boxing career.
'Iron Mike' has been eulogized for Paul on several occasions, including a time when he referred to the YouTuber as "The GOAT" after learning that he celebrated the same birthday with legendary trainer Cus D'Amato. as shared.
But despite his respect, Tyson has also been strict with a man his junior 31 years ago, such as when he questioned his repeated attempts to oust UFC star Conor McGregor.
"I called Conor McGregor when the whole world was watching," Paul once told Tyson in an interview. "He's fighting a guy, Dustin Poirier, who's 5'9", 155lbs, which he already did a TKO in round one. He is fighting her again. Why?"
Tyson, clearly not impressed by Paul's efforts to escalate a feud, simply replied: "You know Connor isn't afraid of you, right?"
Still, that icy moment between the pair hasn't shattered Paul's belief that the former world heavyweight champion is a huge fan of his.
Last November he even claimed that the 55-year-old would agree that he is "the best thing that has happened to boxing" in 100 years.
"I'm the best thing boxing has done in a century, period," Paul told Bleacher Report.
"Legends would agree. Anthony Joshua, Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiaos, Tyson Fury. They've all said what I'm doing for boxing is a breath of fresh air.
"I think the debate started about a year ago - is Jake Paul good for boxing? I've silenced it, and I don't think there's anyone on the other side of the equation who thinks I'm bad for boxing. Am."
Paul once had the guts to compare himself to Tyson and his teammate Muhammad Ali - despite the fact that he had never encountered anyone with prior boxing experience in the ring.
He argued that, in general, fighters would adopt a much lower level of opponent earlier in their careers as they set their own records before being tested harder later in their careers.
Paul claimed after defeating veteran MMA fighter Tyron Woodley for the first time, "No one, from Muhammad Ali to Mike Tyson to Floyd Mayweather, was testing himself as much as I was in my fourth fight. "
"I've learned a lot about myself and what I'm capable of doing and performing under pressure. I look forward to bringing that experience to my next fight."
