Japan's Miura, 55, signs pro forms again

Former Japan striker Kazuyoshi Miura has signed to professional football form at the age of 54.

Miura's enduring career would enter its 37th season after joining the Suzuka Point Gators, a team in the fourth tier of Japanese football.

Miura, nicknamed "King Cashew," said he is "grateful for the opportunity to play here with the Point Gators and will strive to contribute on the field". He turns 55 next month.

This will be the 15th separate club for Miura, who has represented the Japan national team 89 times and scored 55 goals.

He played for Santos in Brazil and Genoa in Italy, and was most recently in J-League club Yokohama FC.
