Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger involved in multi-vehicle accident

Actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Los Angeles on Friday evening, in which a representative told People magazine that he was not hurt.

"He is fine, his only concern for now is for the injured woman," the representative said.

The accident happened around 4:35 pm. PT on West Sunset Boulevard and Allenford Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release.

"As soon as officers from the West LA area arrived at the scene, it was determined that four vehicles were involved," police said.

The LAPD said one woman was taken to the hospital with a head scratch.

"Neither alcohol or drugs are suspected as a factor in this collision. All parties remained at the scene," the LAPD said. CNN has reached out to Schwarzenegger's representatives for comment.

Schwarzenegger, 74, ran for governor as a Republican and won in 2003, ousting Democrat Gov. Gray Davis.

The actor-turned-politician, the most recent GOP member to lead the state, was re-elected as governor in 2006 and stepped down in 2011. He was the only person in California history to have won a gubernatorial race in a recall election.

The Austrian-born film star moved to the US in 1968 where he worked as a bodybuilder and an actor, winning Mr Universe, Mr Olympia and Mr World competitions.

He played lead roles in the films "Conan the Barbarian," "The Terminator," and "Total Recall."

Even after leaving the government, the actor spoke out about the political climate, expressing serious concerns over the rebellion and partisanship in the US Capitol.

"I am worried about both the parties. Both the parties need to come together and work together because you cannot run the country on just 50% brain power. You need 100% brain power," he said. said.
