Walgreens Site Outage Delayed COVID-19 Test Scheduling, Results

Some users said they couldn't access COVID-19 test results, while others reportedly tried to book a test for two hours.

DEERFIELD, IL - Some Walgreens users on Monday reported outages and slow loading times on the company's website, leaving them struggling with COVID-19 test scheduling and accessing results.

Comments on IsItDownRightNow.com suggested problems with the site - several users posted around 1am. Central that they were unable to access their COVID-19 test results, and others said they could not visit the site at all.

One user tweeted that they tried to book a COVID-19 test for two hours, as reported by Nexstar Media Wire.

In a statement, Walgreens officials acknowledged the outage, and said it had been resolved.

"Today we experienced temporary outages of some of our web applications, including the appointment scheduler for COVID-19 vaccination and testing," the statement said. "The problem has now been fixed, and we apologize to our customers and patients for any inconvenience caused."

According to UpdownRadar, Walgreens' outage problems began around noon Monday, although the website didn't specify a time zone in its report. Only a small number of users reported problems in the morning, but by an hour later, the site had received 160 reports. An hour later, it had increased to 262.

At around 1:45 a.m., an "Update in Progress" message was temporarily posted on the site in place of its normal home screen, stating that the website was down.

"The Walgreens.com you know and love will be temporarily unavailable while we make some technical updates to the site," the message read. "We apologize for any inconvenience, but rest assured that we will be back online and better than ever."

Some users also said that they were put in a virtual waiting room when trying to schedule a COVID-19 test, according to Nexstar.

Walgreens has seen "unprecedented demand" for testing and vaccine services and products, the company said in a statement, as COVID-19 cases rise nationwide.
