The actor was taken into custody on April 6.
Actor Joseph Gatt, who previously appeared in a few episodes of "Game of Thrones," was arrested on April 6 on charges of "contact with a minor for a sexual offense," according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
In a news release posted on the LAPD's website on Tuesday, police said the juvenile department of the department's Internet Crime Against Children Task Force served 50-year-old Gat with a residential search warrant at his home on the morning of April 6.
The release said police had received information that the English actor living in Los Angeles was engaging in "online sexually explicit communication with a minor across state lines."
The LAPD said in the release that Gat was arrested by detectives for an outstanding felony warrant.
According to the news release, police are looking to identify any potential additional victims and have asked anyone with more information to contact law enforcement.
TODAY obtained Gatt's booking report which confirms that he was released on $5,000 bail a few hours after being taken into custody.
Following his release, Gat posted a statement on his Twitter account on Wednesday.
"I would like to categorically address the absolutely horrific and completely false allegations made against me recently," the statement said. “They are 100% clearly wrong and reckless. I have confirmed the errors and misleading information in today's press release. I am fully cooperating with the police and LAPD to get to the bottom of it. I look forward to clearing my good name."
He then thanked his friends and supporters and said, "For legal reasons, I cannot comment further on social media."
Gatt's previous acting credits include a three-episode stint as Theon Warg on "Game of Thrones." He also recently appeared in "Dumbo" and "NCIS: New Orleans." Gat has a role in the upcoming DC movie "Black Adam".
