Snoop Dogg Has Joined Faze Clan And Changed His Name Again

Snoop Dogg, the author of the famous Christmas classic 'Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto', has officially joined the FaZe Klan.

The rapper, streamer, and Devil's Lettuce connoisseur announced last night that he is now part of a "digitally rooted native lifestyle and media platform rooted in gaming and youth culture." I didn't have that on my 2022 bingo card.

Snoop will sit on the FaZe Klan's board of directors after the company goes public later this year. He will "co-create content, participate in major business initiatives, and launch merchandise with the brand" along with some of the other key members of the group.

"The biological relationship between FaZe and Snoop has been building for years now, so we're thrilled to officially welcome FaZe Snoop into the family," said FaZe Clan Chief Strategy Officer Kai Henry in a press release. “As a native internet kid and first generation gamer, Snoop has always understood the cultural connection between music, lifestyle and gaming. Today, Snoop is a prominent voice in the emerging Web3 community and we have the metaverse, one in driving force.” We have exciting plans to build together. New engagement opportunities for both our fanbases."

Snoop Dogg has also confirmed that he has changed his name to FaZe Snoop, although it is likely that he will only be referred to as such when working with FaZe. The rest of the time, he'll be the Snoop Dogg we know and love.

Snoop said of the new partnership, "Young people identify with their brand and that's what my son Cordell knew, which is why he brought us together."

"As I watched what the FaZe Klan was building in the gaming space, I knew I had a natural connection with what my dad was doing," said Snoop's son, Cordell Broadus. "When I look at the two brands, I was inspired by the synergy they created so I brought them together in this partnership. I can't wait for the world to see what we're going to do."

Certainly Snoop's gaming credentials are well known at this point in time. The rapper has been streaming on Twitch for the past few years, and has even started his own esports league. While it is unlikely that he will help FaZe win home prizes at some of the major tournaments, his inclusion in the group is a huge step forward.
