In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Viswam Binoy called evacuations of Indian from the war-torn country “reactionary”

New Delhi: Communist Party of India (CPI) Member of Parliament Binoy Viswam has criticized the government for failing to undo the situation in Ukraine and leaving thousands of Indians to fend for themselves. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Viswam called the evacuation "reactionary".

Viswam wrote, "It is very unfortunate that our government has been unable to undo the situation in Ukraine despite sufficient information about the pending war, leaving thousands of civilians to fend for themselves amidst heavy gunfire and shelling." Has gone."

India has deployed heavy lift Air Force aircraft and mobilized special flights in partnership with commercial airlines for countries such as Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania, where Indians are arriving from war-torn Ukraine. It has deployed four Union ministers to coordinate the evacuation in these countries.

Viswam accused the Union ministers of stealing the limelight. He accused them of failing to clear the students on time and questioning their academic ability to study abroad.

Viswam said the government was unable to provide "real help" to the stranded people. He said the Indian Embassy in Ukraine has issued conflicting advice.

“Despite the frantic calls by these students to the MEA [Ministry of External Affairs] control room, they were simply provided with a second advisory, asking them to proceed on foot to these safe areas, completely in the form of crossfire and shelling. Ignoring the reality of the situation. continued around them. ,

He said the government's efforts cannot be limited to operating flights only from Ukraine's neighboring countries. Vishwam called it necessary that all possible action be taken to help the Indians trapped in the war-torn country. He said that many Indians are still stranded in Ukrainian cities like Sumy and Kharkiv. Viswam said their evacuation should be a priority.
