Snowfall Season 5 Premiere Recap: Twisted Fates Revealed

The tragic death of Len Bias in 1986 served as a foreshadowing in the two-part Season 5 premiere of FX's hit crime drama Snowfall Wednesday Night.

More cautious and paranoid than ever, Franklin attempts to tighten his family circle by any means necessary and refuses to leave any loose ends. This was, in part, as fans found out, because his live-in girlfriend and business partner Véronique is expecting their first child. His desire to protect himself and Véronique is tested when White Robb's flamboyant friend Thad ingested too much cocaine and shot and killed an innocent partygoer, who he thought had cut him short. .

At first, Franklin calmly brought White Robb to his mother's house where he could detox less and slowly with Wanda's help. Franklin also plans to check one of his oldest friends into a rehab program once he has settled Thad. But it became harder and harder to trust White Robb, and when Franklin asked Thad about Reed, aka Teddy, Franklin's former CIA drug connect, he realized that Thad's grave had been a part of White Robb's. Loose lips and dead bodies will also be covered.

Making matters more tragic, White Robb had no idea that his death was imminent as he lit his crack pipe one last time and discovered Halley's Comet in the night sky. Peaches was also horrified by Franklin's cold and Robb's calculated execution and probably thought that if he didn't dig that grave fast enough, he might be the next one. The bodyguard's reaction is especially telling when one considers that Peach is a Vietnam vet.

With Robb and Thad dead, Franklin happily talks with Véronique about a potentially bright future and prepares himself for endless drug and real estate deals with his new CIA handler, Grady. Of course, Teddy had other plans, and because he wanted his old job back, he did everything he could to oust Grady.

At first, he went to visit his old boss and was stumped for his previous position. Teddy also noted that Grady was extorting money from Upstairs and working with Black Diamond, one of Franklin's trusted hitwomen. As a final gesture, Teddy meets with Gustavo and questions him about Grady and what kind of operation the sticky-fingered party boy was running. Gustavo admitted that Grady was a lot more fun than Teddy, and the CIA spook seemed genuinely annoyed.

Snow, Gustavo and Teddy in spite of all this, really surprised us when Teddy made a second visit to Grady - the first one disguised - asked him to leave and then secretly poisoned him and when he didn't agree. killed. Was Grady's insult about Teddy's wife going on with someone else hurt his ego? Perhaps, but Teddy was more than likely to kill Grady, no matter what he did or said.

Teddy then made an unwanted visit to Franklin and told her in so many words that he was the boss again. When Franklin is asked about the fate of his father, Elton and Grady, Reed refuses to give a direct answer, saying to call him Teddy now. After Teddy left, Franklin grabbed his gun and immediately regretted not shooting and killing Teddy when given the opportunity.
