Media Digest: Liverpool are looking at a £97m double transfer ahead of the summer according to reports, while John Barnes has had his say on Mohamed Salah's contract.
Liverpool cannot 'accept' all Salah demands
Mohamed Salah's contract situation remains a priority for Liverpool to be resolved before the end of the season, with Egypt close to having just one year remaining on his deal.
But Reds legend John Barnes says the club should not accede to all the demands of its representative.
"If Mohamed Salah wants a 10-year contract that takes him until he is 40 and he wants £300,000 a week, should Liverpool really accept it? Absolutely not," Barnes told Bonuscodesbet .
“Liverpool cannot accept every single contractual demand; They are making the right decision [by not giving in]. They are just looking at Salah's age.
“They love Moe, and they want him to stay, but there has to be a compromise on both sides. If he was 28 and wanted a five-year contract, that was fair enough. Every contract a player demands. Gone are the days of accepting it."
Liverpool 'main bidder' for Real Madrid man
A few days ago, Marco Asensio was linked with a free transfer move to Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of next season, but now reports in Spain claim he could be on his way to Anfield soon. Huh.
According to Sport (via Sport Witness), 'Asensio is for sale' after the current campaign ends as Real Madrid do not want to lose him without any transfer fee.
Liverpool have been described as the 'main bidder' for the 26-year-old, with Real Madrid saying they are ready to drop him for €50m-€60m (£42m-£50m).
Benfica forward wanted
Liverpool have been linked with Uruguay forward Darwin Nunez in the past and those links have re-emerged with the Reds believed to be monitoring him before the summer move.
According to Football Insider, Nunez is a target for Liverpool with Benfica open to cashing in on him at the right price and Jurgen Klopp eager to further refresh his forward line.
Nunez has scored 23 goals in 29 games this season and West Ham turned down a £40million offer for him in January, which Newcastle United were also interested in.
Benfica is said to have been demanding £55 million to let him go.
