Jordan Cashmyer, Star of MTV’s ’16 and Pregnant,’ Dies at 26

Cashmyer was featured in a Season 5 episode of the reality series, in which her struggles with homelessness and employment were detailed.

Jordan Cashmere, star of MTV's reality series 16 and Pregnant, has died in Maryland. She was 26 years old.

Cashmire's death was announced by family member Jessica Cashmire with her late husband – and Jordan's father – Denise M. Cashmere Jr.'s account on Sunday in a Facebook post. No cause of death was given.

"Last night I got a call that no parent would ever want," read the post partially. "My eldest daughter, Jordan, has passed away she was only 26. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever go through the loss of their child. Please bless my family with yours." Pray in thoughts as we go through this terrible tragedy."

MTV paid tribute in a Twitter post, which read: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jordan Cashmere. Our hearts are with his family and friends during this difficult time."

In 2014, Cashmere was featured in season five, episode nine of 16 and Pregnant, in which her struggles with homelessness, employment and teen pregnancy — she eventually gave birth to a daughter named Evie — were detailed. Derek Taylor, Cashmere's boyfriend at the time, was also pictured. She gave birth to a second child, Lyla, last year.

The reality series ran for six seasons and spawned several spinoff series including Teen Mom and 16 and Recovering.

"Please understand and respect our privacy at this time," wrote Jessica Cashmeier on Facebook. "We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, granddaughter Lyla and family members."
