Manchester City dominate Leeds United with Kevin De Bruyne double

Manchester City extended their Premier League lead on Tuesday with an absolutely comprehensive 7-0 win over Leeds United at the Etihad.

The hosts were three runs up at half-time after brilliant goals from Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne put them ahead of Leeds at the break.

Riyad Mahrez continued to score for City to start the second half when his shot from inside the penalty area took a deflection from Junior Firpo and struck Leeds keeper Ilan Meslier.

Man City once again beat Leeds in their own half to make the night 5-0.

John Stones scored six goals for Man City as it went on in the second half, breaking a rebound into the roof of the net with his own shot to put Leeds on the end of their worst defeat in Premier League history.

Leeds' biggest defeat in England's top flight prior to this match was a 5–0 loss to Liverpool during the 1995–96 season.

"There's nothing positive to take away from our performance," said Balsa. "I can't find anything that can be evaluated. When nothing good happens, it's not the person failing, but the operation and organization. There's no justification that I can offer."

"Whatever happened was what we wanted to avoid. Since it has nothing to do with it, it is imperative that I take responsibility for this type of defeat. We have never performed like we did today."

City were not completed, however, as Nathan Ake rose to complete a corner kick and drove his header past Meslier to help the hosts score the final in an embarrassing defeat for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

De Bruyne, whose return to fitness was hampered by COVID-19, said the victory was a "booster" for the side.

"I think we played incredibly well, especially the way they put pressure. We found the right time to attack them. When we were leading 3-0 or 4-0 it got tough for them and They tried to tighten it up in the second half, but we had plenty of chances to score more.

"It's good for everyone, a lot of people who probably didn't play and play very much today. It's a booster for the whole team."

Man City are four points ahead of second-placed Liverpool in the table and five points ahead of third-placed Chelsea, with Pep Guardiola's side playing one more game than the chasing pair.
